Welcome to the "Kaiser Franz Josef Höhe" on the Grossglockner

A ride to the Grossglockner – the highest mountain in Austria (3.798 m above sea level) – along the "Kaiser Franz Josef Höhe", is always quite an experience!

The "Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse" (High Alpine Road) connects the provinces of Salzburg and Carinthia, above the Hohe Tauern, from north to south. This road leads you from Zell am See in Salzburg, over the Alps, to Heiligenblut in Carinthia. No wonder it is called the dream road of the Alps.

The end of the "Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse" and excursion destination No. 2 (according to the statistics) in the whole of Austria is the "Kaiser Franz Josef Höhe". An impressive scene of glaciers and mountain summits, rare plants and animals, unfolds before visitors’ eyes.

Apart from numerous hiking trails, which begin actually at the car and coach parks, as well as exhibitions, Swarovski observation towers, a glacier path to the "Pasterzengletscher" and the shops, our list of tourist attractions is completed by three restaurants:

» "Kaiser Franz Josef Haus"
» "Panoramarestaurant" and
» "Hoher Sattel"

11 rest stops and points of interest, which provide visitors with an overview and insight into the high mountain world of the Alps, are located along the road.

A visit to the "Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse" with the "Kaiser Franz Josef Höhe" should definitely be included in all your trips to Austria.
